Wartsila Gas Solutions, a division of Finnish technology company Wartsila, has been selected to supply the cargo handling system for a new 12,500 m3 LNG bunkering vessel being built for Scale Gas, a subsidiary of Enagas, Spain's natural gas transmission company, Wartsila announced on April 24.

The LNG bunkering vessel is being co-financed through the Support for Sustainable and Digital Transport Programme, a component of the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan initiated by the Spanish Ministry of Transport, Mobility, and Urban Agenda. The order for the cargo handling system has been placed by China's Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering, the shipyard responsible for constructing the vessel.

“The trend towards LNG represents the industry’s transition to greater environmental sustainability, and we are extremely pleased to support this with modern and reliable systems that optimise overall cargo handling efficiency,” said Harald Overland, sales manager, Wartsila Gas Solutions.

The cargo handling equipment is scheduled to be delivered to the shipyard during the second quarter of 2025.
