ReFuels, a Netherlands-based bio-CNG (biomethane) supplier, on May 7 said it dispensed record volumes across its network of 13 stations in the UK for April 2024.

The company dispensed 4,494 tonnes of bio-CNG last month, a 42% increase year/year. The average daily dispensed volume was 150 tonnes, compared with 143 tonnes in March. For the three months to April, the total dispensed volume was 13,024 tonnes, an increase of 44% compared with same period last year.

“The increase is driven by new trucks being delivered during the month, better utilisation of existing vehicles using our infrastructure and an expanded network of refuelling stations. ReFuels’ UK-wide coverage will be further strengthened with one new station opening before the summer and five attractive locations next-in-line to be built,” said Philip Fjeld, CEO of ReFuels.

Bio-CNG, a renewable and sustainable fuel derived from organic waste, boasts significantly lower greenhouse gas emissions compared to diesel.

Through the CNG Fuels brand, ReFuels operates 13 public access bio-CNG stations on major trucking routes in the UK. The group has two stations under construction, one in Aylesford in Southeast England and one in Doncaster in South Yorkshire.

Recently, Fjeld told GasPathways that the company is poised for significant growth in 2024.
